Well, it’s now the morning of July 18th, and the Yankees, at the start of business today, find themselves seven games back, in the loss column, of Boston.

A lot can happen in the next 2 weeks. The Yankees can lower that games back number some more…or, it can increase (in the wrong direction for Yankees fans). Therefore, all I can say now is that it’s getting close to being a true race in the A.L. East between New York and Boston.

That’s it – just close – and not a race yet. But, close is a thousand times better than not close. So, yes, while it’s not a great time in Yankeeland, standings-wise, these days – it could be a lot worse too.
