Where’s Joba? Was Scooter 90?
Aug 18

That 2-1, strikeout/caught stealing, play that Posada and Clemens pulled off in this game was a first for me. Does anyone know the last time that happened in a game? I can’t find it now.

Clemens, for me, was the story in this contest – like Pettitte was in the last one. Great effort from the Rocket.

True confession time: Joe Torre scared me, good, today. With the score 5-2, and Clemens working his last inning, Torre had Edwar Ramirez warming up in the pen. Then, Joe switched to Kyle Farnsworth and had Kyle come in to pitch the seventh. I thought, for sure, Farnsworth was going to find a way to allow some runs in the seventh and make this game uncomfortable. Go figure.

Kall me Krazy, but I thought Farnsy was very impressive yesterday. The K on Sheffield was about as worthy of a fist-pump as anything yesterday. I disagreed with McCarver when he said the crowd’s reaction had ‘little to do’ with Farnsworth.

We’ve all been wanting to cheer for this guy since he came here…

I’ve never seen it in a game, but it has always been one of the standard calls on a first and third base stealing scenario. I was on teams that practiced it as far back as HS ball. In fact, because there are plays to call, I was peaved that they called a pitch-out in that AB. There is no need for a pitch out. You call the play, either throw to the pitcher or to the SS cutting off the throw and be done with it.
