The most infuriating thing about Mussina is that he rarely says “Sorry guys, I just didn’t have it tonight. I really stunk.” He’s always got some excuse, some perceived slight, some complaint. F him.

That about sums it up. Another thing that pisses me off about him is that he never gets upset with himself. You’ll see him get disgusted if someone boots a ball or can’t make a running catch but it’s always on someone else, never himself.

I laugh whenever Mussina has a decent game and everyone is all, “See?! I told you he was worth signing for this year!” But Mussina seems to go: SUCK, SUCK, doesn’t suck so much, decent, good, SUCK, SUCK, REALLY SUCK, decent, SUCK in terms of his starts. Everyone is going to have a few good days here and there but it doesn’t hide the fact that he is hurting this team in the most crucial part of the season.

Mussina is awful, I have no confidence in him at all, he actually pitched even worse than I thought he would.

On the bright side, you have to assume that the Yankees would lose at least 2 of 3 to the Angels so this is not too shocking, hopefully Pettite can come through tonight. Hopefully this is just an Angels thing and the Yankees will take care of business against the rest of the teams on their schedule. I still have confidence in them against other teams but lets just hope we don’t see the Angels again the rest of the season!

Although if the Yanks win the wild card, chances are the Angels will have a better record than the central division winner and the Yanks would have to play them.

I was in favor of bringing him back this year at $9M per season because it seemed like a bargain when other guys (Gil Meche, Barry Zito) were getting overpaid to underperform. I wish they could give him the Kei Igawa treatment and send him to Scranton (close to his Pennsylvania home, incidentially) to “work himself out.”
