There&#039;s a part of me that even hopes he&#039;s right - the way they&#039;ve played against Los Anaheim and Detroit, even if they make the playoffs they&#039;re headed for another painful first round spanking anyhow.

		<description>It would hurt to have the Red Sox clinch the division while playing the Yankees at Fenway, but not as bad as having the Red Sox clinch in the Bronx.

I was at Fenway Park when the Yankees clinched the division in the glorious season of 1998.  It was the ridiculously early date of September 9, and the Yankees won 7-5 after El Duque blew an early 5-0 lead.  The rivalry wasn&#039;t as hot then as it&#039;s been in the last five years or so, but still there were a lot of Red Sox fans around who did not enjoy watching the Yankees clinch in their house.
