I was at Fenway Park when the Yankees clinched the division in the glorious season of 1998. It was the ridiculously early date of September 9, and the Yankees won 7-5 after El Duque blew an early 5-0 lead. The rivalry wasn't as hot then as it's been in the last five years or so, but still there were a lot of Red Sox fans around who did not enjoy watching the Yankees clinch in their house.
