• Torre: Kennedy Is Not Coming In September

    From Newsday -

Teams can expand their active rosters Sept. 1. Torre said he and general manager Brian Cashman have talked in general terms about who they will bring up. Torre expects an infielder, a catcher and a couple of pitchers to be on that list, just don’t expect a certain righthander.

“[Ian] Kennedy won’t be one of them, I don’t think,” Torre said.

One certainty is first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz, who has been on the disabled list since fracturing his wrist June 2.

Torre expects an infielder, a catcher and a couple of pitchers to be on that list.

My guesses: Alberto Gonzalez or Andy Cannizaro, Wil Nieves, Chris Britton, Kei Igawa, and Jeff Karstens.

Nothing to get really excited about there.

So that’s why Gonzalez just resigned as Attorney General — he’s expecting a September call up.

Well, I could see Vizcaino benefiting from not being used as much due to Britton being around (and who knows, maybe the Yanks don’t lose as many extra inning games if Henn is no longer the last option out the pen).

Other than that, MAYBE (capitalized maybe) Torre will take out Jorge in blow out late games if he knows that he has another catcher to back-up Molina in case of a fortuitous injury.

That can only be for the good.

Why bring up Mientkiewicz when adding Giambi completely ruined this team??
