The way that I see it is the more people who piss off, the better job you’re doing.

Of course, that could be a result of me being so good at pissing people off that I therefore have a vested interest in viewing things that way.

This is why I got on people the other day for demanding “consistency” from you b/c what they really wanted was a Rah-Rah site. There are 5 sites where I get my Yankee News…Lohud, here, River Ave Blues, Pinstripe Alley and Bronx Banter.

Anyway, I used to go to Yanks fan v. Sox fan all the time, but the problem with that site is there is a lot of one sided abuse. You can’t post thoughts to other Yankee fans without some Sox fan getting on you.

At that site, Red Sox fans are allowed to call people names (I posted Theo’s famous “uber team” quote after they got Eric Gagne and someone called me an “ass”) indiscriminantly. But, if a Yankees fan responds in kind, the Sox JERK who runs the site (someone who calls himself “Paul SF”) will remind you of the terms of service, threaten to ban you, yada yada.

Finally, I decided “who cares?” and just quit visiting the site. I really don’t care what Sox fans think, particularly on a site that’s about 3 to 1 in favor of sox fans where the Yanks game post has 50 comments (all from the same 3 people). Let’s face it, RED SOX FANS ARE PEOPLE THAT HAVE “SHORT MAN’S DISEASE” and they try to compensate by dishing out abuse.

Other people at that site have admitted to me that there’s a “double standard” there. I suppose it was never a good idea to impliedly “support” the domination by sox fans who run the joint by even going there. The Yankee fan in charge really doesn’t know anything about baseball or the Yanks anyway. His only goal in life is to work for equality between the teams and shine Paul SF’s shoes.

And I’ve told the Yankee fans on there that a real Yankee fan wouldn’t congregate at a website that’s dedicated to the notion that (1) the teams are equal; and (2) the Sox fans’ thoughts are more important that the thoughts of Yankees fans.

My point in all this rambling, is that I appreciate YOUR site, and YOUR thoughts, and hope that you’ll keep it up. I hope this remains a place for Yankee fans to fairly DISCUSS what’s going on with the team, both good and bad.

Steve, you’d make a great next-door neighbor.

Never before posted, but I wanted to let you know that this is by far my favorite Yankee blog, and I read it every day. And, correct me if I’m wrong, but I think Steve is merely talking about flaming and bashing, not about civil disagreements and arguments. Keep up the good work!

It’s just when someone’s opinion is “You’re an idiot” or “That’s the stupid’s thing I’ve even seen written” it lends towards nothing good…hence, the request for those folks to just ignore the site.
