Villone, if he throws strikes (a challenge), has always been able to get out lefties. Not in the pure-LOOGY Myers way, but he can get it done. However, they shouldn't take him on thinking of any Ortiz matchups: when Villone actually throws him a strike and doesn't walk him, Ortiz owns the man. They should use Farnsworth as some sort of anti-Ortiz weapon should they face them later. He's apparently the one guy in this bullpen (outside of Joba) who can get him out.

Ron Villone isn't LOOGYing anybody. Although he was not pitching well at the time, the Yanks were hasty in DFAing Myers.

Villone's numbers against LH hitters aren't bad. I might take a shot with him depending on how IPK feels. I just know Joe will be so damn tempted on using a Villone vs Ortiz matchup if we get that far. While that isn't terrible, he may do it, just because its "the thing to do".

"pre-existing condition" is the sticky wicket, though the Yankees could claim that his hamstring had healed -- he had a good workout before the LDS. I know my hammy will be fine for months, then get a twinge in it every once in a while. So did it entirely heal or no?

And I think Roger is done period. If he didn't heal over the last three weeks, a couple more days won't do the trick. Can't imagine him coming back next year.
