Minor programming break here with some information for those who may be thin-crust pizza lovers.
I grew up eating pizza from Denino’s on Staten Island. And, they had a well deserved rep for having good thin-crust pizza. Tonight, for the first time, I ate at Pete & Elda’s in Neptune, N.J. – and, I was shocked at how thin their pizza was…like paper. I can’t believe it took me this long to try it out. I can’t imagine anyone having a thinner pizza than Pete & Elda’s.
If you’re into thin-crust pizza, and you’re around Neptune some time, you really should check it out.

Other than spending time with the fam and going to Yankee games, one of the biggest things I miss about NY/NJ is great pizza. L.A. is a veritable pizza wasteland. The standard output for most L.A. area pizza joints is Ragu and melted cheese on a buttery, crumpet-like pizza crust.
I envy you, Steve.
much of the US west of Chicago is a pizza wasteland. i’ve asked pizza guys here in my hometown, and they will blame it on altitude, water, lack of reliable importers, earthquakes – you name it. honestly, pizza is one of the reasons i moved back to NY state from Oregon.
