The Miller/Maybin deal being discussed was for Willis and Cabrera (or one or the other) from the Marlins.

We might as well forget about Haren. 1) they say he's heading to the D'Backs (for a package that doesn't sound great so far) and 2) Beane has apparently said he thinks Santana and Haren are equal, and he wants Hughes (at least) and probably Kennedy, too. That's pointless -- I don't think Haren is all that much better than Hughes, and in two years Hughes could very well be much better. Yankees should just stand pat and see if their young pitchers can get it done.

Wow, Miller and Maybin for Haren? I'm seriously amazed that Detroit would go that high.

As for Cashman taking the lead...I have no idea what to say. On the one hand, it looks like Cashman's being marginalized. On the other, maybe it's just the front the Yankees want to present. In either case, I sure do wish Hank would shut the F up already. He's been in the papers every single day since the Torre thing. Doesn't he get tired of his own voice? I never thought it was possible but he might be more annoying than his dad.

The Tigers are reportedly willing to offer both Andrew Miller and Cameron Maybin for Haren. The Yankees would have to start with Hughes and Kennedy to even get an answer from Beane at this point.

Also, Haren's not a dominant pitcher, so there's that.

Wouldn't Haren require more players going to Oakland than Santana because of the cost certainty and there's no need for Oakland to move Haren?
