    From George King -

Yesterday, the bullpen took another hit when the agent for Luis Vizcaino said the effective right-hander’s stay in pinstripes lasted one season.

“We are proceeding like the Yankees aren’t involved,” Bean Stringfellow said yesterday morning. “I talked to Brian (Cashman) and he said he was going to call twice and hasn’t. I have teams interested and Luis has played on many teams and has enjoyed them all.”

After hearing Stringfellow’s quote, Cashman was asked if he planned on calling the agent and said he didn’t know.

Viz: I’m not gonna be ignored, Cash!

Geez, I hope Brian doesn’t have a pet rabbit.

Given how season to season variability of most relievers, the size of the contract that he is seeking, and the shoulder problems he sustained as a result of overuse, not bringing Viz back is a sound move.

Agree with Rich. He wants too many years, and he’s coming off a Torre year, which could mean shoulder issues and diminished performance. It’s too bad, because I like Vizcaino quite a bit, and considering the horrible stretch he went through during the season, his numbers were more than respectable.

Off-topic, but it’s always fun when someone kisses a young Yankee’s ass, and here we go. Dayn Perry was writing about the Santana trade and said the following:

“Cabrera’s a highly useful fourth outfielder, but offensively he’s stretched as a regular. On the other hand, Hughes’ gifts are such that it might be wisest to overlook a pressing organizational need and get the future Cy Young contender while you can.”

Future Cy Young contender? Damnnnnn! Perry genuflects to God-Hughes too, clearly.
