It's cuts both ways. I'm sure the players enjoy playing in front of their countrymen. Yes, there's an injury risk, but it can be reasonably argued that the reason they were able to make the majors is because they played winter ball (a point that you touched on). So you'll have cases of players playing in the Caribbean, but maybe holding off during the Serie del Caribe.
