Private Brian Four Horses Key To Reaching Fall Classic?
Jan 24

Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the “Yanks [are] nearing [a] four-year deal with [Robinson] Cano.”

Four-years @ $30 million.

That’s going to buy a lot of Mickey-Dees and Red Bull.

    Quote of the day.

My question is why the Yanks are willing to lock up Cano but haven’t given Wang a similar offer. The Red Sox locked up Beckett at below-market and the Yanks should be looking to do the same with their younger players.

Maybe they are looking to lock up Wang long term and we just don’t know it. This deal breaks precedent and came out of nowhere. It’s good to know the Yanks aren’t going to take everyone till their free-agency year and have a little faith.

By the way, no post on Canseco trying to extort money from Magglio Ordonez? If ever his character was exposed, this is it. Luckily Canseco already looks like a joke — his original ghostwriter has already said his “evidence” was speculative — so A-Rod doesn’t have to sweat whatever “dirt” Jose has. Jose was basically the right guy at the right time and he gets held up as a hero when all he really is is an immoral jerk, a creep, and a shyster. Congrats to the filthiest hustler to ever go mainstream. His luck is astounding.

Thought about Canseco – but, I want to see more. After all, people laughed at his 1st book – but, in the end, who had the last laugh?

The issue with Wang is that he’s had some pretty scary injury history, they probably want to wait at least one more season to make sure he’s shoulder is fine.
