Cone To Join YES Booth

Joel Sherman has the story.

Can’t wait for the first Cone-Leiter debate.

I wonder if it will be anything like this:

YES is the only baseball network that needs five thousand broadcasters. The best team they have is Singleton and Flaherty. It was so peaceful and smooth when they called games together (alone, without the awful Micheal Kay, who is the only thing I dread about baseball returning). O’Neill doesn’t focus on the game much and though I love Murcer, he tends to ramble on and repeat himself.

They need to make Kenny and John the permanent guys and leave it at that.

I love Leiter and Cone. This could be fun. Or it could be a major disaster.

If Cone is willing to confront the hard truths, he will be good. If not, he will suck.

As far as I’m concerned thay should dump Leiter.

I think Cone will do a great job. He was articulate after games and during his brief previous tenure at YES. We’ve needed a smart, well-spoken, pitching expert since Jim Kaat left.
