Also, as far as I'm concerned, Hughes has had a bad impact on the team.

Positives: 2 RSAA

That's just a tiny inconsequential positive

Negative: Helped cost the Yankees the acquisition of the best picher in the AL.

That's a big negative.

Maybe, he might end up being worth that very high cost. But, maybe might doesn't do it. He has to prove that he was worth that very high pricetag.

Phil Hughes has 2 career RSAA.

The list of pitchers who were just as highly rated as Hughes who failed is as long, if not longer, than the list who succeeded.

Can we wait until he actually does anything worthy before declaring drafting him to be a great impact.

Yeah, I want to see Marquez throw a big league pitch before judging him here. Has he even thrown many at Triple-A?

Osborne was bad because it put him on the team - and, then, Torre used him. It was an embarrassment to see him in a Yankee uniform, in a major league game, at that stage of his career.

I think it's a bit of a stretch to say letting Leiber go via free agency was a bad move. Sure he would have been nice to have in 2005, but he broke down after that year and would have been more dead salary weight.

I also don't see how signed Osborne was a bad move. Sure he didn't pitch all that well, but the Yankees did win his 2 starts, and after that he was used in long relief in blow outs (if I recall correctly). It's not like they gave up a lot to get him. It was a scrap heap move that turned out like most scrap heap moves. I say "no impact."

Finally, the Yanks also drafted Jeff Marquez that year, he's on the verge, although still unproven.
