Hal has as much power as Hank and Hank knows it. He needs to chill because he cannot make the unilateral moves that he pretends that he can.

For those that took a real hard analytical look at the Santana deal, I think the vast majority feel Cashman made the correct move ESPECIALLY considering the current Yankee plan to build a lasting, self sustaining contender.

But you HAVE TO KNOW that Cashman will go balls-to-the-wall to help this team win this year. Cashman NEVER lets on what he's planning. Everything he says for the public is carefully calculated.

Making statements like 'we have to win this year' can only make any deals we do more expensive.

As he always does, Cashman will pounce on someone mid-season when there is a reasonable deal to be done. The truth is there are question marks about this team, but we don't really know which ones will go in which direction. If it far better to see how the first half plays out and then make adjustments, rather then panic now and overpay for someone we might not really need.

The only deal I think is important to look at is to see if we can trade some good, but second tier prospects, for Nick Johnson. He is under contract for 2 years at $5.5m/yr (a steal), hits lefties as well as righties, is 29, and will bring (I think) a draft pick if we let him go after 2009.

Nick absolutely RAKED in 2006. This could be a great deal for us.

I hate Hank. There's nothing more to say. This passive-aggressive POS doesn't have his dad's stones to force his employees to make a move he wants but then he wants to blame them if things don't work out according to some kind of unrealistic vision.

And if the Yanks had traded for Santana and not won the World Series? Then what? Whose fault would that be then?

Hank is the worst kind of owner: too loud and bossy to work for, but too timid to respect and take seriously. A total loser.

By the way, nice touch by Hank, including his old man at the end there. "If you don't do like I say, I'm gonna get my dad to beat you up." Loser.
