• Murcer Book Due Out This Spring

    “Yankee for Life: My 40-Year Journey in Pinstripes,” by Bobby Murcer, is due out on May 20, 2008.

    I share this because I know there are many Murcer fans out there, like me, who will want to check this one out.

      Should be a good read, if his writing is anything like the way he speaks. Very easygoing style.

      Always got the impression from him that he was happy to be here, and grateful for the opportunity. Appreciative. Guess that’s one of the reasons why he was so popular?

      Geek alert ahead — I am in the midst of a dice baseball replay of the 1971 Yankees’ season (re-living the team of my youth, note my username). This was Murcer’s best year, and he is off to an amazing start — .378 with 6 homeruns and 34 RBIs through 39 games. Lindy McDaniel, on the other hand . . .
