Getting To Know Billy Traber Hank: Cash Part Of Yankees Cosa Nostra And Will Stay
Feb 25

I heard this on The Michael Kay Show on ESPN Radio (1050 AM in NYC) during the drive home tonight.

Since the “last game” at Yankee Stadium this season is a Sunday, ESPN owns the rights to show the game – not the YES Network. What a bummer.

Two concerns: One, they better not turn this game into a Sunday-night game – that would be a crime. The last game at the Stadium deserves to be played in the sun. Secondly, ESPN better air the ceremonies planned for that day as well – or allow YES to pick them up. Imagine if none of that great stuff is captured for all-time sake?

Hope both sets of cameras are at work that day.

I prefer baseball on radio. In the Yankees’ case, the radio team carries from regular through post season, you have the same 2 people who’ve seen all 162 regular as well as whatever they can get in the post. At least for the upcoming occasion, you’re getting 2 people who have great history and continuity with the team. You don’t get that with YES or ESPN, neither of which I consider watchable anyway.

Do you think they’ll actually talk about the game? I find Sterling & Waldman unlistenable.

What I would like to see is a collection of broadcasters, color men & analysts on both the radio & tv side passing through the booths.

Even more of a reason I miss Scooter…
