Nice effort by Ian Kennedy in the game this evening against the Reds. You really can’t ask for more than that – at this stage of the spring.

And, Joba Chamberlain in this game? Simple: Too many pitches per batter. He was supposed to go three or four innings tonight and only made it through two and a third. Not that it’s a huge cause for concern – now. But, you want to see better from him during his next appearance. If not, then you can start to get concerned – but, just a little bit, and, not a lot (yet).

Edwin Encarnacion put up a 14-pitch battle against Joba, so really it was just too many pitchers for one batter. That basically wiped an inning off Joba’s night.

saw the feed and basically he was going with nothing but his fastball and curve tonight. the curve doesn’t seem to be a real outpitch (at least in the sense relative to his slider) but it was pretty sharp pitch that no one really got good wood on. it should be great if he uses it as a complement to his slider. but not as the main pitch.
