Posting Issues Fix?

If you’ve been having problems posting comments to this blog in the last couple of weeks, while using Internet Explorer (IE), I have something for you to try.

While using IE,

1. Go to Tools > Internet Options, then select the Privacy tab.

2. In the Web Sites area at the bottom of the tab, click Edit.
(You also may see a button, instead, for “Sites” - if yes, click that.)

3. In the “Address of website” field, type
http://www.waswatching.com/
and click Allow.

4. Next, in the “Address of website” field, type
http://www.typekey.com
and click Allow.

5. Then, click OK at the bottom of that dialogue box. And,

6. Click OK on the Privacy tab.

The other possible cause for your issue may be a Windows update that inadvertantly changed the date on your system clock making each cookie TypeKey planted on your system as automatically expired.

If you think about it, this makes sense because the last time we had this “issue” with TypeKey and some versions of IE was last March - and March is when Daylight Savings Time starts, etc.

So, if the first suggested fix here doesn’t work, and you’re willing, delete your temporary internet files and then reopen IE and try to make a comment here.

Better solution: Stop using IE.

Its 2008 people! Anyone still using that piece of crapware probably doesn’t have anything valuable to add to the blog.

Well, I followed the first set of instructions, and, BINGO!, I could post from home again. But, then, when I tried to post a 2nd time, I could not.

So, then, I followed the second set of instructions, and nothing worked.

But, then, I tried again to post. And, this is what I did…

I posted a comment, checked it out in “preview” and then tried to post it - and it failed, even though I could see it in “preview.”

So, then, I signed in again…and, now I can post again.

Strange. So, why not try it - if you’re having posting issues with IE? Follow the two instructions in this entry. THEN….Try and post a “test” comment here - but, “preview” it first. If it fails, then try to post it again, here, and see if it works after that…like I said, it worked for me.

Just an add-on to the above. When posting, where it says “Remember me?” I used “No” (and not “Yes”). That seemed to help too.

Yeah, this seems to be the trick. Do the first two suggested “fixes.” Then, when posting, use “preview” and not “post.” While in the preview mode, under “Remember me?” choose “No” and then hit/submit “Post” while you’re in the preview “view” and you should be able to post that way, no problem.
