I doubt it was “not foreseeable.” He named names in the first one, I’m sure he anticipated a second book which would’ve named more names.

If I were A-Rod, I would simply say something like?

“Jose Canseco doesn’t like me anymore? Gee, that’s a shame. What about the steroids guy he introduced me to? I don’t remember, he might have. When we were friends, he introduced to a bunch of guys he knew. And that’s all I have to say about this matter, on this, or any other occasion.”

Now, if “Max” or “Min” or “Meany” or “Moe” comes forward, and says, “Yes, Jose introduced A-Rod to me, AND I SOLD A-ROD STEROIDS, AND HERE’S MY PROOF” then this story has legs. But if no such person ever comes forward, for whatever reason, then the story dies, no matter how many time Canseco performs CPR on it.

Why not save it for a second book? No sense in unloading everything all at once

A-Rod really isn’t in a tough position. All he has to say is ‘no comment’ and continue to ignore the pathetic gnat that is Jose Canseco.

Canseco’s acting like a desperate man, and he’s making himself to be more and more of a joke to those who can actually see him for who he is. I just wish you could do the same, Steve.

Actually, I see it another way. Why wouldn’t “Max” just run an end-around and sell his story about A-Rod? Why would he wait in the wings under Canseco’s thumb when, if true, Max’s story is more credible than Canseco’s innuendo and second-hand version of the events?

If “Max” is out there and has the goods on A-Rod, he’s a dope for not capitalizing on this now, while the story is interesting.
