can someone tell me why damon was playing at normal depth with a man on third and less than two outs in the bottom of the ninth? the entire outfield should have been waaaaay further in. anything that was hit to where they were playing would have ended the game. if they were playing way shallow they may have caught that hit.

And in those situations, he is well below the team average. That’s all I’ve said. I simply took what was suggested anecdotally in the original post and supported it with statistics. And I explicitly stated that none of that suggests that he is the main or only problem on the team. Anything you infer beyond that is your own conjecture. You’re welcome to it, but don’t expect me to indulge you further.

The question is WHY are you focusing on ARod when so many other players have failed SO many times this year? Melky couldn’t lay down a bunt, then struck out on a ball eye high and 6″ outside.

I could go on and on. Yes, ARod has been VERY poor this year, so far (1 month) with RISP. But he is only a small part of our lineup. This is a TEAM sport.

In fact, it was purposefully and clearly indicated that these are small sample sizes so that they should be taken in appropriate context. They are not, however, meaningless. Rather, they show that he has clearly not helped the team in those situations thus far.

I almost destroyed my new 42″ lcd tv. It all started in the early inning when AK-Rod struck-out swinging on a ball that’s in the dirt with men in scoring position….. we were on a roll when A’K'-Rod was injured….. IPK showed some glimpse of his talent though…
