• Subscapularis Muscle Tear For Posada?

The New York Times is reporting this may be the case. (Just now, on YES it was reported that the Yankees will not confirm this report.)

From what I can quickly tell, if surgery is required, Posada could be out for the next four to six months (post-op). So, this situation would basically wipe out his season.

While the Yankees would miss his bat behind the plate, Jorge being MIA would also be a huge loss in terms of the leadership that Posada provides the team.

those injuries hurt – this isn’t surprising for an older player – the best thing is for Posada to go on the DL and get healthy. Our replacement catchers can handle 1-2 weeks then we’ll probably try to pick up a daily catcher.

Does this have anything to do with the fact that they didn’t DL him right from the start and ensure that the was healed, instead of rushing him back?

And I know his defense is terrible, but is this a time to give Mike Piazza a shot and let him catch 2-3 times a week?

This entire thing is strange because the Times reported the tear earlier this month and stated that it was a minor tear. We didn’t hear much about it, so it didn’t seem very serious. It’s all very strange, indeed. I think Jorge may have reinjured it or made it worse yesterday.
