My point is simply this: since Cash only deserves partial credit (as well as blame) for the moves that took place before he was given additional authority in 2005, which, btw, include three WS championships during his watch, I propose that we re-start the assessment clock on his body of from 2005 on, but in doing so, in light of his emphasis on prospect acquisition and development, we should afford him several years so that his plan can be viewed in context.

Considering everything the team has gone through from injuries, schedule, horrible pitching. Where they sit right now really isn’t that bad. Boston isn’t off to the same hot start yet so things can still fall into place.

Yes it does happen. Fans and organizations fall in love with prospects who don’t turn out to be stars. And to make things worse, organizations sometimes fall in love so much that they don’t trade prospects for even the best pitcher in baseball.

Very fair criticism.

I had my share of complaints with Torre but I did want Girardi over Mattingly. That being said, Girardi has underwhelmed me so far. Managers are human and they make mistakes (some more than others).

I still want Girardi. I’m merely fair and balanced.

As fans, we cant have it both ways. You cant talk about how great Hughes will be and look how young he is.
Only to then use his age as an excuse.

The kid only has to be average. Heck, he can be below average and we’ll still be able to win games for him.
But at the moment, he is death and regardles of his age. ”Death” is not acceptable.
