i think Cashman's answer was related to ARod telling Cash and Girardi he was ready to go, when he actually wasnt 100%... and Cash stickin' it to ARod a little for lying to the club. its great to see ARod be the anti-pavano, but in the short-term heere, but lying about his injury he's hurt the team more than helped.

i agree with Gonzo. Ensberg was brought in to give a little extra pop against LHP, maybe play a little 1B and 3B to spell Giambi/ARod, and give a little punch on the bench... i dont think he should be a full-time option for 3B; doesnt seem like he hits RHP well enough.

Give Gonzo some time at 3B, let him see the pitching, and evaluate what you've got. We all assumed he'd be stuck behind Jeter and not have a chance, but this seems to be the perfect opportunity.

to this point, it looks like at the minimum, he hasnt been overwhelmed with big league pitching, and maybe with an extended look, he can improve the bottom half of this lineup, and help give Girardi some small ball options to manufacture runs the team hasnt been able to score on a regular basis.

What kind of answer is that from Cashman?

The kind a guy without a medical degree probably should give, though I would have added "or the medical staff," but that's a small point.

Truth is - he doesn't know. Neither do you. Neither do I. And in complete honesty - neither does A-Rod.

I agree. Alberto Gonzalez could definitely use the experience and could get something out of it. Ensberg isn't going to see any benefit from added play time.
