I think at this stage the Yankees will be looking for starting pitching and any one of their young prospects is expendable with the exception of Joba.

Steve, I know it is an example but with the Yankees you can never be shocked with what they might do. They might be stupid enough to make a trade like that. Wasn't implying that it was your trade proposal or anything, just stating that it would be dumb if they did a panice trade like that, which is always possible.

Yeah, thats fair, Steve. I was just pointing out that if Cashman didnt trade Hughes, IPK, AJAx, or Tabata for Johan, you'd be hard pressed to find another player who would be a difference maker who he could justify moving the blue chippers for.

perhaps if the Braves fall out, with Smoltz's shoulder barking and Tim Hudson mysteriously losing velocity, they'd be interested in moving Teixeira themselves... he's a FA after the year, but perhaps you make the deal pending a contract extention... then I could see moving a couple of these guys.

Guys, I was just picking four names out of the air. It's not a trade that I would suggest or recommend. I just picked four names where two of them were Yankees blue-chip prospects and two were players from a bad team who played positions where the Yankees have a need. It was meant as an example...nothing more.

I wouldnt be opposed to importing Nick Johnson, but there is no way I'd trade AJackson to do it.

Cashman wouldnt move AJackson for Johan, so how could you justify moving him in a deal for a injury-prone 1B and a prospect?

That would be a really stupid and meaningless trade. It wouldn't help them make the playoffs this year, so why not just keep the young guys and see what happens. Not to mention Nick Johnson is a walking injury.

What is the obsession with Nick Johnson? That train left the station a long time ago. He's an injury about to happen.

This is not a good team, too many DH's, young starters and two aging starters, etc. Can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Your 2008 New York Yankees.
