Trenton OF Excels – Not Jackson Or Tabata
Via PhillyBurbs.com:
Going into the season, a lot of people touted the Trenton Thunder’s outfield as one of the best in the minor leagues.
Center fielder Austin Jackson and right fielder Jose Tabata were considered two of the very best prospects in the New York Yankees system and among most talented young outfielders in baseball.
The Thunder put Jackson, Tabata and left fielder Colin Curtis side by side on the front of the team’s 2008 media guide. Curtis has played well, Jackson has been up and down, and Tabata has really struggled.
And Matt Carson, who appeared to be the odd man out in the outfield rotation, had the best start of all and earned a promotion to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre over the weekend.
Carson, 26, who first played for Trenton in 2005, batted .277 with 26 RBIs and 16 extra-base hits in 27 games.
Good for Carson. He’s old to be considered a prospect. But, based on what he’s doing, he deserves to move up. This could be curatins for the great Jason Lane experiment.
