They didn't need Clete Boyer, Graig Nettles, or Brooks Robinson last night. A decent 3b'er would do. We can agree that it was a terrible start last night, but the defense didn't help. Even Girardi said as much during his postgame interview.

We might as well have left Igawa in for the entire game and saved some arms. Albaladejo wouldn't be hurt right now if not for the waste of money who started the game...

Kei Igawa still sucks? There's a big shock. He makes little money salary-wise -- the Yankees need to explore a trade, sending him to a pitching-starved NL team. He might actually survive as a fifth starter there. He cannot stay in the rotation. It is pure pain watching him pitch.

Ian Kennedy should be back in no time.

Putting a POS like Igawa in the rotation will not help this team win consistently, which it has been unable to do all year.

Didn't listen to the post-game to hear what happened to Big Jon, but once again it was a good effort from the 'pen.

I don't understand the use of the word excuse. How many teams can lose two major bats (one that is arguably the best in MLB), especially when Cano and Giambi have given the team nothing, and Jeter's OPS is in the .700 range?

Excuse implies giving a pass. I don't think anyone is doing that, but it is a reason for the team's underperformance, especially tonight, when Betemit was pitiful at 3B, his defense (if you want to call it that) costing several runs.

On the bright side, it looks like Cano is coming around, maybe Giambi is as well.
