As much as Gomes has made Molina look bad this week we can’t look past the fact that Rivera wasn’t sharp last night. That’s just how it goes. Now, the pain is compounded by the fact that Andy Pettitte pitched like crap on Monday night and the team scored only one run off a busted prospect and the bullpen.

So, in short, if the offense had managed three runs last night (not much to ask for, I’d say) then Rivera wouldn’t be the goat of the 11th inning.

Also — side note — Melky’s throws this year have been absolutely terrible. I can’t think of a single throw he’s made this year that has been accurate or even close. Who is the OF instructor on the team? Rob Thompson? He might want to work on Melky’s throws because it’s night and day from 2007 to present.

Fire? With a veteran team? And this is baseball, not football. At least Joe G has them well conditioned……

Hankenstein, starting to make following the Yankees a chore. At least the old man bought the franchise [majority] and built it up. That was bad enough, listening to him at times, now this acorn won’t shut up.

If Molina is going to hit like a pitcher, he should at least be able to throw out Johnny Gomes with the game on the line. So much for being “the best backup catcher in baseball.”

This is what is has come to: We are getting dominates by the likes of Garza and E. Jackson, talented young pitchers but no superstars and watching J.P. Howell out-pitch Mo. Leadoff hits will kill you whether you’re Mariano Rivera or Kei Igawa.

And agree with the earlier posts: Molina gives us nothing on O so the least we can expect is a decent throw to 2nd.

And, as King Hank has alluded to: What happened to the fire that was supposed to come in with Joe G?

The problem is Giambi and Cano aren’t hitting and ARod and Posada are hurt. So you have 4 guys at the bottom of the lineup who aren’t all that great right now. They pretty much just have to wait it out because they don’t really have any other great options for 3B, C, 1B, & 2B.

I’m not really sure there is much they can do but bringing up Gardner, who started off hot but has since cooled, is not going to change much.
