Some recent e-mails to me regarding making donations towards this site has brought cause for this post.
As some may remember, in the past, I did accept some donations via PayPal. A while back ago, something happened with the PayPal donations “button” on this site – and it no longer worked. I never bothered looking into fixing it because I didn’t think it was appropriate to ask for donations, now, given that I’m part of a blog network, etc.
However, as mentioned, in the last few days, I have received some e-mails from folks wanting to make donations. (And, of course, thanks to all of you who have asked about this – it is extremely kind of you and very touching.)
Unrelated, someone else recently e-mailed me asking for an autographed copy of my book. And, now, thinking about the two different requests has given me an idea.
The person who wanted an autographed copy of my book and I worked out a plan. They sent me money via PayPal and I used that to buy the book from Amazon and have it sent to me. Once I got it, I autographed it and sent it to them. It seemed like the best and quickest way to get this done – and it worked.
So, here’s my suggestion. If you’re interesting in making a “donation” to this blog, how about buying an autographed copy of my book? This way, the site gets something and you also get something tangible in return.
If you’re interested in this, please send me an e-mail with an appropriate subject line. It would require a “donation” of $33 from you, to me, via PayPal to cover buying the book, having it sent to me, and then having me sent it to you. (This also allows for a margin of about $5 for me to cover my time, etc.)
To me, this is win-win. For those who want to do something to help out, it’s a way to do it. And, they get a book – and I get to sell a book. (And, I think you’ll like the book – most people who have read it say they got something good out of it.)
In any event, thanks again to those who have expressed a desire to help out. It is very appreciated – very much so!
