The Yankees have picked-up Ben Broussard – and assigned him to Triple-A.
Not sure I get this one? Broussard cannot hit lefties, at all. So, how would he fit into the big league picture in the Bronx? And, as far as Triple-A, well, if he’s there then he’s taking Plate Appearances away from Juan Miranda and Eric Duncan.
Am I missing something?

and i believe there is an opt out clause in Jason Lane’s contract, similar to Carlos Pena a couple seasons ago, dated to May 31st. If he’s not called up, be can become an unrestricted FA… my guess, and from what ive read from Chad Jennings, says Broussard is basically Jason Lane insurance.

Miranda’s not out for the year.
Lane insurance…yeah, I could see that. Makes sense.

He’s not out for the year, but he’s out now. Lane is most likely gone one way or another May 31, so you need another 1B.

Is it so wrong to have minor league fillers? Maybe he’s not pictured to help with the big league team and is there to fill a spot at the AAA team
