Estee Harris had his contract purchased by the White Sox on Friday and he has been assigned to Class A Winston-Salem of the Carolina League. Harris, 23, an outfielder, was hitting .328 with six home runs and 30 RBIs in 35 games, His .578 slugging percentage ranked fifth in the Atlantic League. A Central Islip High School graduate, he was a second-round pick of the Yankees in 2003.
I wonder if this news will now make Andy Brown want come out of retirement?

Happy Father’s Day to all the Fathers out there
Thanks for reminding us of Andy Brown. I recall seeing him play a year or two after he was drafted. He was with Staten Island then when the team played up at Skylands in New jersey, then the NYP affiliate of the Cardinals. Brown was without question the WORST player I had ever seen in organized baseball. Compares to whomever was running the scouting department then, the ones doing it now are geniuses.
Hey Steve, if you get the chance, could you do one of your “I was wondering…” followed by querying the Complete Baseball Encyclopedia posts on Robinson Cano? Perhaps something along the lines of when was the last time a young Yankee had back-to-back full seasons as different as Robinson Cano is on pace for. I mean, according to baseball-reference.com, he’s on pace for an OPS+ less than half of what it was last year, holy crap.
Speaking of former Yankee prospects — let’s hear it for Tyler Clippard, who went six and got the win last night, striking out the putrid Richie Sexson to end his night and get out of a jam. Clippard may throw 87 mph, but he’s in the big leagues getting wins and Hughes and Kennedy are on the DL, Buchholz is in the minors, and Homer Bailey isn’t pitching well (and they say his velocity has disappeared). Clip isn’t anywhere near as good as those guys, but it’s funny how things work out.
And on another note… David Robertson is FINALLY starting to get major pub. And now hack factories like the “Daily News” are pushing his name like they discovered him. (As if prospect watchers haven’t been screaming his name for over a month.) But whatever — as long as we finally get to see him. (Pete Abe is still hung up in the crotch-worship of Melancon and Cox, who was recently hurt. But someone should tell him to hurry up and jump on the Robertson bandwagon, because he’s going to be the first one called up.)
