Ha, great story Steve. My girlfriend and I always argue about what we’ll do when we, umm, have kids (?!!??!) one day. Her love for the Red Sox (she’s from MA) and my love for the Yanks will probably rip us apart.

I decided to put together a one-sheeter per week (we have the whole summer) for my 6-year old daughter and my 4-year old son. Both have Yankee hats (of course) but they don’t know the team.

The page has 2 pictures of the player. One tight shot on his face and the other with his back so they can see the number.

Today’s was, who else, Derek Jeter. I kept it simple…

This is DEREK JETER. He plays shortstop for the New York Yankees.

He wears Number 2 on his uniform. He is the team captain.

And of course, I taught them the song.

Bonus: The wife was a bit crabby today but when she saw the kids’ new “posters” and came in to my home office with a big smile.

Who said an unhealthy obsession with a baseball team couldn’t bring families together?

ukyankee – good luck. Have fun with it. But, realize there are limits with what you can do. Since my 6-year old daughter is so interested now, I thought it would be fun to also teach her the difference between a two-seam and four-seam fastball – - the grip, the movement on the pitch, etc.

After I finished showing her the two-seamer, and was about to go through the four-seamer, she looked at me and said “I think I’d rather watch the Backyardigans.”

I got the point.

yankees76 – I was off-line yesterday from 8 AM until around 4 PM, from 5:30 PM through 8 PM and from 9 PM until now, 7:30 AM. Basically, I’ve been MIA for the last 24 hours. Out of respect for this great post, I won’t point out that Steve failed to acknowledge that the Aceves post immediately preceding this one is complete BS and should be withdrawn or corrected, because Steve didn’t do a good job sourcing his information, and the entire premise of the post(Aceves’ size) is incorrect.
