July 2008 Survey Question #3
Please consider taking the following poll on a trade idea that was 100% completely fabricated here and not based on any reports of actual information:
If The Yankees Could Acquire Xavier Nady And Damaso Marte From The Pirates For Ian Kennedy And Melky Cabrera, Should They Make The Trade?
Thanks in advance. And, please feel free to add comments on your opinion in the comments section below.

Not sure I see where Xavier Nady fits in unless you’re adding him as a bench bat. And if that’s the goal, then I don’t want to trade the team’s starting CF and a young arm for just a bench bat. Seems like a steep price to pay for 100 AB’s.
~Not sure I see where Xavier Nady fits~
Start him in LF or RF…with Gardner playing CF.
And, Abreu grabs some pine…assuming that Damon returns. But, if Damon doesn’t return, they you have Xavier play LF.
From all reports, Matsui will not play the OF again this year…if he comes back at all.
Why on earth would you bench Abreu for Nady? Frankly, Gardner hasn’t yet shown that he’s a major league hitter.
Also, say what you will about Abreu right now but wouldn’t you say that you’re buying high on Nady after an uncharacteristically good start to the year that has left him on pace for a career year in every category?
~~Why on earth would you bench Abreu for Nady?~~
Because..
Abreu stinks this season, and
the Yankees need a strong RH bat in the line-up.
Lastly, maybe Nady is just a late bloomer? He was a highly touted prospect at one time.
Abreu stinks this season

He read this remark, put some extra pine tar on his bat, and hit the GW double to complete the mini-sweep!
If I was trading Cabrera and Kennedy, I would want someone who can play some Center.
Gardner has not done enough to warrant trading Melky away.
No. For many reasons.
1> How many pirates have the Yankees traded for who have sucked in N.Y.?
2> Melky 23 years old - Career BA - .269
Nady 29 years old - Career BA - .279
3> Melky with 3 years less service has more strolen bases.
4> If I’m reading the stats right, Melky also has more assists than Nady.
No thanks. I’ll keep Melky, he isn’t the problem with this team.

[...] Two weeks ago, I suggested that the Yankees should consider offering Ian Kennedy and Melky Cabrera in exchange for Xavier Nady and Damaso Marte. So, was the actual deal, as reported, better than the one that I suggested? [...]
