Then that's on me for not being clear. My bad.

To clarify, my take is that it really isn't a big deal, and it isn't "embarrassing the stripes." As if that were the case, the Yanks would look to cut ties with him, as they've done that in the past with personnel, and other organizations have done it with their personnel as well. Of course who's to say that they won't try this offseason? I doubt they will (or will eve entertain the thought), but stranger things have happened. Hell, it can be said that ARod fell into the Yanks lap for the reasons I mentioned earlier

As for the Yanks eating salary, they've done it before, there's no reason to expect they wouldn't do it again. It probably goes without saying that part of the back and forth in how much salary is eaten has to do with whatever package the team receives (this is independent of the Rodriguez discussion).

The Yanks are opening a new stadium next year, they're already clearing 4M in attendance. That will not be an issue for the next few years, presumably if/when Rodriguez will break the HR record. From a merchandising standpoint, the benefits are probably negligible; the Yanks don't have any problems moving merchandise. Whether Rodriguez stays or goes, the Yanks will make a metric shit-ton of $$.

It probably should be mentioned that they thought so much of him catching Bonds that they were willing to let him walk.

As for 'The Yankees will never send A-Rod away,' it's a long time between now and the end of that contract. Lets wait and see where we are before we declare that.

Hey, it's 5:00 somewhere, and I have contacts in catering; I just may join ya.

What context?

A-Rod has extra-marital relationships, is getting divorced and is in the middle of a tabloid media firestorm.

You suggest he may end up traded.

Steve challenged you on who would take on his contract.

I challenged you on why the Yankees would allow the best player in the game to get paid by them but play elsewhere.

You brought up drinking. A little early but I think I'll have a beer at lunch. Cheers!

Apparently, not as good as whatever it is you've been drinking. Please go back and read what I wrote within the context of the thread.

Dude, name (for me) the teams in baseball that would be willing to take on the next 9 years of A-Rod’s contract. Really.
—————-
Cubs, Mets, Dodgers.

You don’t think that if the Yanks swallow enough salary that another team wouldn’t take on Rodriguez?

___________________________

Think about that - the Yankees are going to pay A-Rod to play, and break the home run mark, somewhere else?

That's some really good stuff you must be smoking.

The Yankees will never send A-Rod away. He will play another nine seasons, start declining within four or five, look awful within seven, and he'll be seeing his kids during the off-season and strippers all year long all the while.

And, yet, none of these teams made a hard run, if any, at him when he was a Free Agent this winter, did they?
--------------
Yanks didn't make a hard run @ him either. Heck, before he signed with the Rangers, the Yanks didn't make a run at him. The only reason he wound up with the Yanks was because the Red Sox tried to run the okeydoke on his salary.

I don’t think it’s too much to ask someone being paid $30 million a year to behave.
------------
Salary really isn't relevant to this discussion. Guys screwing around on the side really isn't anything new. Bigger and better men than Rodriguez have done it.

And none of the old timers' had the kind of known scruntity these players have today.
