I recently finished reading Bobby Murcer’s book “Yankee for Life: My 40-Year Journey in Pinstripes.”
If you’re a Yankees fan, you’ll want to read this one. It’s an easy and comfortable read. And, it’s one that’s safe for Yankees fans of any age. You can allow your young teenagers to read this one without fear (of what they might learn).
You’ll learn some things about Bobby that you may not have known – at least I did. And, the sections about what he’s gone through since his diagnosis will bring a lump to your throat. (To be candid, at least once, while reading it, my eyes got a little watery.)
In the spirit of full disclosure, I did think there were some things – like Thurman Munson’s death and the days that followed – where Murcer could have provided more (than he did) in the book. But, on the whole, I highly recommend “Yankee for Life: My 40-Year Journey in Pinstripes.” I’m very happy that I read it – and, if you’re a Yankees fan, I think you’ll be happy to read it as well.
