Eric Milton?

From the AP -

Left-hander Eric Milton, taken in the first round of the 1996 amateur draft by the Yankees and traded two years later to Minnesota in Chuck Knoblauch deal, is set to rejoin the organization. Milton, who had elbow surgery last June, started working out Friday at the Yankees’ minor league complex.

Milton was 0-4 with a 5.17 ERA in six starts last season with Cincinnati. He threw in the outfield as part of Friday’s session.

Eric Milton? Amazing.

Who’s next on the Cashman tryout list? Paul Wilson? Jaime Navarro? Jason Bere? Jose Lima? Joey Hamilton? Ismael Valdes?

Somewhere, I see the phones for Tim Leary, Andy Hawkins, Dave LaPoint, Chuck Cary, and Mike Witt ringing with the caller ID reading “Cashman, Brian 718-293-6000.”

Funny you should mention Lima. He and Milton had similar seasons in 2005. Worst RSAA in the modern era :

    4 Jose Lima 2005 -50

    T21 Eric Milton 2005 -41

    What about Aaron Small?

Look, I guess I’m fine with him as AAA fodder if he’s not taking away from player development. Other than that, I don’t get this one.

I just don’t get how your farm system can be full of pitching talent and then you’re working out Eric Milton and sending scouts to see Victor Zambrano…

That just doesn’t seem right, does it?

Check that…it’s not just a workout…I just read that the Yankees have signed Milton to a minor league deal.

    Wow.

The MiL numbers are there for everyone to see.

It appears that Cashman’s stockpiling pitchers for whatever reason.

i don’t understand the problem here.

How does Cashman NOT take a look at him?
He’s not going to get a start unless he works his way through the system again.

Trust me - he will NOT get a chance, because his name is Eric Milton.

and not that Eric Milton was a lights out pitcher (although, he had one good season), he’s worth taking a look at - no??

MUCH better than giving away our rookies for someone like Randy Wolf !! (we should really be hoping that THAT doesn’t happen!)

our kids are JUST not ready yet .. it’s unfortunate for the present that we are in a SEMI-Transitional year, but this team is going to be the envy of baseball in no longer than two years!

Ride the Wave and enjoy it … i don’t know about you all, but i like winning more when we least expect it .. ya know!

[...] now, Knight may get to start a game for the Mets. Geez, all of a sudden, Eric Milton is looking good - well, make that “not as bad”….. July 24, 2008 | Filed Under [...]
