This game was going to be tough with Halliday pitching. That's why the previous game against Pittsburgh was sooo important. Another case where we made a bad team look good.

Having seen some game reports it occurs to me that my reaction is a function of "watching" on Gameday rather than seeing the action on mlb.tv. Obviously Doc was dealing. But still, the number of first pitch outs was staggering.

Seems to me that Girardi has every reason to tear his team a new one after that performance. I followed it on Gameday and in the fifth or sixth, figured they'd at least knock Holoday out early. Then came what seemed like a dozen first pitch outs, and the next thing you knew he had another complete game win.

Does Girardi not get as upset because it was one of the top pitchers in the league vs a young guy just coming into his own? Or is he less pissed off because it wasn't the culmination of a poor series of performances, and they had won four in a row before the last two debacles?

In the end it hardly matters, everyone else lost, and the Sox looked the worst doing it - to a crappy pitcher, at home. Yanks and Rays lost on the road to good/great pitching.
