First baseman Juan Miranda is having an interesting season, to date, down at Scranton-Wilkes Barre.
Miranda’s BA/OBP/SLG line, so far, is: .301/.387/.454 (in 216 AB).
When you see that, you start to wonder if the Yankees should consider replacing Jason Giambi, at first, next season with Miranda. However, notice the BA/OBP/SLG splits for Miranda so far at Triple-A this year:
vs. LHP: .164/.215/.197
vs. RHP: .355/.448/.555
Yes, that’s an on-base average of two-fifteen with a slugging percentage of one-ninety-seven against lefties. Ouch. Can you say “platoon candidate”?
If Juan Miranda can learn to overcome his struggles against LHP, the Yankees may have something with him. Until then, he’s a somewhat flawed prospect.
