Having said that, if the Dodgers are willing to give up Kemp, by all means, make that trade before they come to their senses.
-----------------------------------------
Couldn't agree more. I'd love to see a young athlete like Kemp on the team. He's a fairly undisciplined hitter but the upside is substantial and exciting.

Pettitte
Moose
Lowe
Joba

Yeah, I would go to war with that 4-man in the playoffs.
Not too sure where a bat is coming from though.

There’s no way the Yankees would be willing to take that on…I hope. That’s insane.
------------
If the Dodgers are interested in shedding salary, I can see it happening. Jones is a short-term contract that would fit the Yanks plan of holding a spot until one of the kids are ready.

The money really isn't that big an issue; the prospect package the Yanks send will more likely than not depend on how much salary the Yanks take on; that was the reason they were able to get Lidle & Abreu.

I doubt the Dodgers would be interested in Abreu, but I cannot discount the Torre factor.

Having said that, if the Dodgers are willing to give up Kemp, by all means, make that trade before they come to their senses.

that Jones idea is so realistic its scary. id rather not think about it.

perhaps more likely is Juan Pierre? he's Brett Gardner, but more proven. only problem is that Pierre is signed not only for 2009, but 2010 and 2011, too.

i could definately see the dodgers moving Lowe, who I agree would be perfect to take over for Darrell Rasner, but while he's a FA come seasons end, they are also in the middle of the pennant race and Lowe has been a reason why.

Bobby Abreu, maybe? veteran bat who can play RF, is a FA at the end of the year, but they could extend him if it works out... almost kind of swapping need for need.

but then the Yankees need a RF... unless they can somehow figure out how to extend the deal to get Matt Kemp back in the deal (which the Dodgers have made it known he's available).

ok, trying to end this stream of conscuiousness:

dodgers need: OF bat, and bullpen help.
yankees need: proven starting pitcher.

i'm not going to pretend i can figure out a deal that makes sense, but go ahead people and play with that!

Jones? If so, the Yankees would probably be willing to eat two months of his salary for 2008. But, he's due $15 million in 2009. There's no way the Yankees would be willing to take that on...I hope. That's insane.

Why do I have a nagging feeling that Andruw Jones will be thrown into this deal?

This would be entirely too sensible a move for Cashman to pull off. He'll reject the Dodgers offer of a Z-grade prospect who'll never develop into anything and wait for someone like Esteban Loiaza to clear waivers instead.
