Darrell Rasner’s numbers in his first four starts this season for the Yankees:
25 IP, 19 H, 3 BB, 14 SO, 1.80 ERA
Darrell Rasner’s numbers in his last eleven starts this season for the Yankees:
57.2 IP, 83 H, 25 BB, 36 SO, 6.71 ERA
It’s probably safe to say that the the bloom is off the rose for good ol’ Darrell. I think we’re about to see if Ian Kennedy or Alfredo Aceves is ready for the big leagues.
Shame…Rasner’s a nice guy and someone to root for…but, he’s just not getting it done.

I’d like to see Aceves get the first shot, though given his injury recovery and subsequent pitching at AAA I don’t know if this is the best time for him. I figure he will have a career much like Ras, good until the league figures things out. In that scenario we could get a few good starts out of him. It would afford Kennedy to get settled in a bit more as well. Get in a good rhythm and come up like a bolt of lightning September 1st, and ride out the season, playoffs, by handing teams their bottoms. A man can dream can’t he?
what rotation move would you do Steve? Take Rasner out for IPK? Take Ponson out for Aceves? Vice Versa? Both?
While he pulled a great start out his rear, I don’t think Ponson’s long for the team. Once Kennedy & Hughes are ready, it’ll be the last you see of Rasner and Ponson.
But, if I were a gambling man, I’d say Rasner goes first.
