The Curse Of Kyle Farnsworth?

The Yankees bullpen, month-by-month, this season – with August as of this morning:
MONTH IP ERA BR/IP April 104.6 3.70 1.26 May 91.3 3.55 1.27 June 82.0 3.95 1.35 July 79.0 3.19 1.05 August 16.0 6.75 1.69
Is it just me, or, has the pen turned into an arson squad since Kyle Farnsworth was traded? Don’t get me wrong…I’m not saying that Farnsworth was the key to their success. I’m just wondering if Kyle put the malocchio on them, or something, on his way out…
…between the numbers, so far, this month; and, Rivera’s bad back…well, you have to wonder, no?

Number one, you’re drawing conclusions based on less than 1 week out of the month. Nevertheless, the chance of having problems in August was compounded by the performance of the starting rotation early in the season. I’m not sure if its changed since then or at what point exactly, but through the first two months of the season, didn’t the Yankees rotation have one of the lowest IP totals, and the bullpen one of the highest? Its generally agreed that this is a recipe for disaster, as a bullpen may handle that workload for a time before it inevitably crashes and burns.
