Ah, “the Curse of Kyle Farnsworth” lives on…

Poor Dan Giese. You have to feel bad for him today. He pitched his rear off, in front of his family, against the team he grew up watching…and the Yankees pen just…well…they just pooped on it.

This whole thing is starting to get very embarrassing. So, here’s the question: Assuming the Yankees continue to play like chumps, rather than champs, for the rest of the season, should someone in the organization be held accountable for this mess? Or, do you just write off this season because of the injuries to Wang, Chamberlain, Matsui, and Posada and say this is all bad luck?

How about “the Curse of I-Rod”? I didn’t really buy into the hype surrounding his unfamiliarity with Yankee pitchers . . . until today. Listening to McCarver question Veras’s pitch selection (especially during the Napoli AB) has me wondering. Then again, it might just be the Yankee relievers are pitching “down” to their standards.

Its easy to say its bad luck and frankly hard to argue against it. An ace, a second ace misses critical time, two major run producers …

On the other hand, to be honest I am hoping the bad play lasts long enough that Lil’ Stein finally gives us what we’ve been waiting for – a giant Mt. St. Helens size eruption, just like dear old dad. But the bad play has to be enough to put the Yanks in a worse way while there is still time to make a push. Playing better this month then falling short in the end isn’t the best way to get Hank’s blood boiling.

I think I’m going to start calling Hank “Waldo”…cause I’m wondering where he is now?

You have to deal with injury.

Torre did in 2006. Sheffield, Matsui, Cano, Randy Johnson and Mussina in the 2nd half.

He also did in 2005. Pavano, Brown, Wright, Wang. Giambi’s 1st half in that season

Accountable for this mess? A lot of people are responsible, but one factor is beyond their control and that would be Tampa. Even if they play like champs they have to contend for the division with two teams this year, not one. That alone will be a given barring a miracle that the Rays fall apart.

Look, Cashman made changes like Pudge,Nady and Marte. It seems that these changes haven’t brought great results. Is Pudge responsible for this mess with the pitchers? Or were they just overachieving? The analogy I use is that if the Yankees were a severe wound they are using bandages instead of a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. Yes, they are starting to build within BUT so far the Hughes/Kennedy Experiment has been a flop and Melky has become a AAAA player. Injury? A lot of teams have injuries and don’t have the resources to trade for three people AND then try to get Washburn as a salary dump.
