So this is the first time the Yanks don't make the playoffs since 1995, and all of a sudden Cashman doesn't know how to build a championship team?

The 2007 playoff team

*Bobby Abreu
#Melky Cabrera
*Robinson Cano
*Johnny Damon
Shelley Duncan
*Jason Giambi
Derek Jeter
*Hideki Matsui
*Doug Mientkiewicz
#Jorge Posada
Alex Rodriguez
*Bronson Sardinha

*Andy Pettitte
Philip Hughes
Chien-Ming Wang
Mike Mussina
Mariano Rivera
Joba Chamberlain
Roger Clemens
Kyle Farnsworth
Ross Ohlendorf
Luis Vizcaino
Jose Veras
*Ron Villone

Most of those guys came back in 2008. At least the important ones did.

If you're going to let the man go, fine, doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. But give a good reason to cut him loose.

Personally, I think he should get the benefit of the doubt for 2008, considering his track record. You know, playoffs every year, a couple of pennants, a couple of world series, a few division titles...

I'll say the same thing I said at the end of last season about Torre.

You shouldn't let a guy go unless you have a ready-made replacement.

I'm not sure one exists, so if that's the case, better to keep the devil you know.

The time has come for a change at GM.

He's had a good decade long run. But this team needs a change.

They need someone who can actually evaluate pitching and make big decisions.
