Kay: Game In Tampa Important Tonight
I was in the car this evening, a few minutes past five, listening to Michael Kay (on ESPN Radio) carrying on about how the Red Sox comeback win today changes everything for the Yankees and Rays in their game.
Kay’s logic: Now that Boston has won, Tampa needs to win in order to prevent the Sox from getting within 3 games of first and New York needs to win in order to not fall 8 games back in the wildcard with only 23 games left to play.
I can somewhat see the point about Tampa – because they play Boston six more times this season (and it’s not like the second place team in the A.L. East is a lock for the wildcard – because the Twins and/or White Sox could still be in the mix there).
But, the Yankees? Seriously? No matter what the Yankees players say, or what Joe Girardi says, or what Brian Cashman says, the Yankees are done this season – in terms of being a contender. This game – as do all the remaining games – do not matter in terms of wins and losses.
Michael Kay should know that too.

I have to agree with you.
This season is over. Hopefully, we’ll get hot and make a run, but honestly, until we actually do it, it’s nothing but a pipedream.
Michael Kay is a dope.
Michael Kay works for which TV network…?
Oh yeah, that’s right.
