Don, have you seen what Torre has done in LA with such a talented group of people then GM Ned Colletti added Casey Blake, Greg Maddox AND Manram ? The Dodgers are in second place , the team is under .500 AND that is after they added Blake, Manny, and Maddox so please stop the Joe Torre talk. Girardi was handed a declining team, even Dick Williams in his prime couldn't motivate these overpaid superstars. In the AL East, the Yanks are the third best team with Toronto not far behind them. This is 1965 all over again.

Another thing, Jeffrey Loria is a jerk. He does a Mark Cuban and starts yelling at the umpires like a rube. Thank god, Girardi schooled him to shut up! Loria was handed the Marlins after he owned the debacle up in Montreal called the Expos. His friend Bud Selig ( a real phony and wolf in sheep's clothing) made sure he was taken care of and that Marlins owner Henry got the Red Sox for a lower price than Cablevision. Cablevision would have run the Bosox into the ground! Thanks Bud.....

The Yankee decline is made even tougher by Tampa's rise. They wouldn't be in this situation if Tampa was so good either. Now by beating Tampa the Yanks are doing the Red Sox a favor, because the Bosox are still in striking distance of first. Quite an irony. In terms of pride, it would be great to take this series BUT it gives the Red Sox an edge in terms of getting home field in the playoffs.

PS Cashman's contract is up and it should not be renewed.

~~Girardi and Peter Abraham bost said he hit 95. I don’t see a problem with that considering he was out for a month.~~

Singleton said that the YES gun had him at 90 and the Trop Stadium gun had him at 93, FWIW.

Why do the New York Yankees hire such an immature, inexperienced manager?
--------------
Because they figured a mature, experienced manager wasn't working out for them?

FWIW, I think Torre misses the playoffs with this squad too, given the events of this year. And this would've been the year to let him go. At least then you have a convenient excuse that he didn't make the playoffs, lost his magic touch, blah, blah, blah, whatever.

Hey, Steve, thanks for the link to The Yankees Republic.

I found a great post over there this weekend that echoes many of the reservation you've expressed about Cashman's leadership.

Although if you're the laconic Yankees fan; this guy is a garrulous one. Every one of his post is like reading a tome. Good stuff, though, and well-written.

Thanks again.

The person truly **out of whack** is Girardi. Why, oh why! Why do the New York Yankees hire such an immature, inexperienced manager? Stupidity, most likely.

Why did the Marlins fire this stumblebum? The Girardi apologists blame the Marlins owner. Quite convenient, dontcha think?

PS..... Cashman must go.
