The Yankees have 23 games left to play this season. Presently, they are 11 games over .500 – and 11 games back in the loss column of the first place Rays and 7 games back in the loss column of the second place Red Sox.
On the season, to date, the Yankees are 20-9 (11 games over .500) in games started by Mike Mussina.
It’s pretty safe to say, that, without Mike Mussina this season, the Yankees would be just about a .500 team and their season would already be over by this point.
