Scoring 2 Or Less In The Division
To date, 21 times this season the Yankees have played a team from the A.L. East and scored 2 or less runs in that game. And, the Yankees record in these games is 7-14. Here’s the breakdown:
Toronto, 6 times, won 1 and lost 5
Baltimore, 5 times, won 1 and lost 4
Boston, 4 times, won 2 and lost 2
Tampa Bay, 6 times, won 3 and lost 3
What’s most surprising about all this? I’m actually amazed that the Yankees didn’t go something like 4-17 in these 21 games.
It’s sort of like when Archie Bunker ran over Barney Hefner’s dog, Rusty, with Mr. Munson’s cab, and he broke the dog’s leg. At first, Archie suggested to Barney that Rusty could have been killed by being run over by a car – if such an accident happened. But, then, Archie asked Barney “What if Rusty only broke his leg? You could be happy with that, right, Barney?”
We should probably be happy that the Yankees managed to win 7 of these 21 games – and not lose 17 of them…right Barney?
