I know that YES has a pre-game show starting at 6 PM on Sunday. And, reportedly, ESPN2 will be airing some stuff from the Stadium that day at 7 PM. But, in trying to get a better feel for when the pre-game, on the field ceremony, will start on September 21st, I called the Yankees offices today and asked “Can you tell me what time, on Sunday, the pre-game ceremony will start?”

Their answer: “We don’t have any details on that yet.”

Huh? It’s happening in three days and they don’t know anything yet? Now, that’s Yankees customer service at its best.

I’m not asking them what is planned. I don’t want those details. I just want to know what time it starts so that I can make sure I’m there, on time, when it starts and also not sitting there for an hour because I’m too early, etc., as well. Seems like a simple question to me…

The whole last year at THE Stadium has been a bust, including allowing the last game, on a Sunday, to be held at 8 pm, rather than a day game.

      Surprised? No.

All corporations are like this, the Yankees are no different.

They’re making it awfully hard to set the VCR for Sunday. I’m planning to tape the game, and catch the pre and post YES bits when they re-run them on Monday morning.

And I’m planning to be in my seats when the Stadium opens. Any word on if they’re opening the gates earlier than 6pm on Sunday?

So it was in 1973—the REAL last year at THE Stadium. The final game drew just 32,000 fans.

I asked Peter Abraham last night if he knew when the on-the-field stuff started – and he said the Yankees haven’t shared anything yet. But, that he would try and find something out today.

catseurat – is YES going to replay the pre AND post game stuff on Monday? I didn’t hear that – but, it would help on the taping front…

If the ceremony starts at 6 pm, they would have to open the gates by five…maybe 4:30 PM?

Man, it’s going to be a long day…

Drivers like me have to be there at least an hour before things start…to get a parking spot. So, if the thing starts at 6, that means I have to be there around 5 or 4:30.

Since it takes me 90 minutes to drive there, it looks like I’ll be leaving the house around 3:15 pm and probably not getting home until 1:30ish the next morning.

Ten hours is a long day for a ballgame…worse when it’s at night. Thanks a million ESPN.

Tresh Fan – maybe, some day, it will be 1973 again in Yankeeland! ;-)

According to yesnetwork.com/schedule, they’re going to rerun the pre and post game bits twice, starting at 6am on Monday morning.

ESPN is doing a SportsCenter special about the Stadium from 1-3pm on Sunday, followed by the Baseball’s Cathedral program from 3-4, then a rerun of the SportsCenter, Baseball Tonight, the real SportsCenter, and the game at 8.

I heartily agree, if that means nine years of disastrous results and uncaring corporate ownership.
