Some Info On Closing Ceremonies
Via the Post -
Though some 40 former Yankee greats are expected to pay homage to the Stadium, more notable perhaps are the two biggest absences: Yankee boss George Steinbrenner and public-address announcer Bob Sheppard, who are both too ill to attend.
Yankee legend Yogi Berra is expected to throw out the first pitch, sources told The Post.
And the pregame ceremony will include a slew of pinstripe greats, as well as the widows or children of Thurman Munson, Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle.
Former Yankee manager Joe Torre, skipper of the team’s most recent World Series runs, and legendary first baseman Don Mattingly – who are manager and coach on the LA Dodgers now – are considered maybes, sources said. But Bernie Williams, who will be making his first stadium appearance since leaving the team, will be there.
Video tributes will pay respect to the 85-year-old stadium, the many players who have played its field, and the millions of fans who have cheered in its stands, sources said.
I’m very sad to hear that Big Stein can’t make this one. I understand the issue with Sheppard.
Torre and Donnie? There’s no way – unless they blow off the Dodgers game that day. (L.A. has a home against the Giants on Sunday. And, it’s a 4 pm EST start.) Maybe Joe would excuse Mattingly and let him come…that would be nice. The Dodgers have an off-day on the 22nd.
I wonder if some non-Yankees-players, like Bill White, will be there? That would be nice too.

They posted the info for Sunday. Some of it.
I think it would be great if Bill White came back. He must be getting up there in age and I don’t remember the last time I saw him but it would be pretty special to have him at the last party.

Field access will be awesome… I wonder how many divots will be there before the game starts
The more I think of it, the more I think I’m going to hang around the stadium that day and snap some pictures for posterity.
Steve are you going to the game?

Bill White was at the last game at the stadium last year when they honored the Scooter. He looked great. Just grayer.
~~Steve are you going to the game?~~
Yup!
