The Yankees didn’t do anything special about the managers, just the position players. If they did, then I would really call foul. The managers that were mentioned were either players before (Dent, Martin) or part of the 1923 team (Huggins). I don’t recall anything really special made about Stengel.

However, I just have to say, the catcher portion was a bit laughable: Dickey… Howard… Berra… Munson… GIRARDI?!?!… Posada. Kinda silly really.

The excuse for Clemens is ridiculous. No one, under those circumstances, was going to boo, and the reaction would have been so positive that had a few people started booing, no one would have heard it.

And its really obvious to me that they simply didn’t want Torre acknowledged. If you’re going to mention Huggins and Stengel you have to mention Torre.

One other thing that I thought to be cool, was Bob Sheppard’s remarks. I wish his health was better so he would’ve been able to attend. Steinbrenner as well.
